Kew the Music is a series of evening “picnic” concerts, held annually in the beautiful surroundings of Kew Gardens. It began life as Summer Swing, and changed its name to Kew The Music in 2011. At one point, the performance arena was relocated within the Gardens following feedback from local residents regarding sound levels. This summer’s series had to be postponed until next year, in light of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The headliners originally due to appear 8-12 July 2020 were:
• James Blunt
• Jack Savoretti
• Will Young
• James Morrison
• Gipsy Kings
• DJ Spoony presents Garage Classical
• Bananarama
According to recent guidance on arriving for these events:
Disabled guests plus an additional carer may enter the concert site from 5.45pm, a quarter of an hour before general public access, via Pavilion Gate on Kew Road. This is away from the main queues and will be clearly marked with a banner. This is the nearest gate to the arena site with the shortest, flattest route. Please note that guests will not be able to leave via this route and should leave the site via Victoria or Lion Gate. If preferred, disabled guests may enter the site with the rest of the public at 6pm via Victoria and Lion Gates.
In the past, the advice led the concertgoer in a slightly different direction:
• Entrance and exit for all ticket holders is via Victoria Gate or Shaft Yard, both on Kew Road.
• Access for disabled guests plus one additional carer from 5.45pm at either gate.
• IMPORTANT: Please note that there is no public entrance or exit via Elizabeth Gate.
