“Instituto Cervantes, the only official Spanish Government Language and Cultural Centre, is a public institution founded in 1991 to promote Spanish Language teaching and knowledge of the cultures of the Spanish speaking countries throughout the world.

Our Headquarters are located in Madrid and Alcalá de Henares (Madrid), the birthplace of the writer Miguel de Cervantes.

In the UK we work closely with British museums, galleries, theatres, publishers and universities as well as with Spanish and Latin American organisations.

The Instituto Cervantes in London is located in the central London, and its history as a Spanish cultural center goes back over sixty years.

Instituto Cervantes London offers a comprehensive programme of cultural and arts activities showcasing the best in literature, film, performing arts, visual arts and thought from Spain and Latin America.

There is a full program of cultural events including lectures, film screenings, book launches, theatre and exhibitions. As a general rule, the events are free and simultaneous translation is provided.

Instituto Cervantes London promotes international cultural co-operation by organising and collaborating in a variety of events to present historic and contemporary Spanish and Latin American film, music, literature, dance, theatre, visual arts and gastronomy. We work in close association with a network of British, Spanish and Latin American institutions and in partnership with other European institutes.
